This is my last video practice for this week. I was practicing the I got rhythm. Hoever, in this practice I don't think I did that well because I made mistakes and maybe this is because I was not fully concentrating on this piano. So, next time I should be more focus while playing.

-Today we get our score for assessments in music class on term 3. I think I am pretty much satisfied except for the singing i dont feel that good. Then we also had another Jazz rehearsal. I am very happy because now we get ore positive feedback saying that we made an improvement. I am very happy. We just need to work on some little things such as the face expression when playing and such. I just hope that we can perform like this on our next meeting because on the next meeting it is already our assessment.

-Today we have another Jazz group rehearsal. I think this time due to some changes that we made we did not perform that well and as well as we expected. We made quite a lot of mistakes because we were not that cooperative and that is because we havent had enough practice especially with this changes that we made. So that is why I think we need to spare some of our free time maybe during lunch or after school to have an extra practice for this.

This is my other practice video for this week. I think this practice is better than the last one because now I am able to play faster which is the desirable tempo for this song. However, I still slip in some parts. Those are the parts that I will need to work more on and improve more on.

-Today we have a special guest that performed to us a song called the "Lilin-Lilin Kecil" which was originally composed by this special guest. I think they are very good. Then we were also told to write our reflection about the Jingle song that we composed. We were also told to write a checklist. I think that I am quite good overall in this term 4 so far. However, I still need to update my blog more on time. Then we also have another practice for the Jazz group performance. We made some changes this time because last time, Mr Herry told us that our performance is just too short. For next time we just need to practice together again.

-Today we submit our finale jingle song which is already the final one. I think my melody is better now. I made some major changes because the draft one was really bad and some of the instruments are not supporting my theme for the jingle song. Then we also get to see our video frm the last Jazz group rehearsal. I think my group was not that good actually because we were not as cooperative as the other groups. That was what we were lacking and therefore we need more extra time to practice together for next time.

I think i didnt do that well this time because I was trying to make it as a fast tempo but then I arrived with rushing too much and therefore making so many mistakes. I think this is still a problem to me and I need to improve on it on the next practice.

-Today we saw some inspirational videos from youtube from some of the favorite artists and musicians. Then we also listen to Greg and Adrian singing "Tears in Heaven" because they have not done the group singing assessment. I think they sing qutie well although some are a bit too low for them to sing. Then we listen to the Jazz group performance. I think this time my group did quite well. The teachers also said we did better than our last rehearsal, obviously. So, I am very happy. However we still need to practice harder because the other groups are still better than our group.

-Today we listen to our class jingle's song and we were told to give some feedbacks to our friends so that they could improve before submitting the final copy. I think my melody is bad and i want to improve it again because my melody is suppose to be for a baby product but then some instrument make it too low and does not match for the theme. I think i want to improve it by changing some of the instruments. Then we also practice for the Jazz group together and this time i think my group were a lot better than our last practice. We just need to keep on practicing to make it more fluent.

This is my practice video again. I was still practicing the I Got Rhythm for the group Jazz performance. I have to practice this as often as i can because it is very important and it is one of my music assessment. That is why I need to practice this hard. Also I need to practice together with the other instruments because that is the hardest part to be cooperative with the others for next practice.

-Today we have the real group singing assessment. The first group was Anthony and Daniel. Then it was Ardhito, Martinus and Erik. They did pretty well actually. Then it was Nissa and Rifky and I think they did very well because they sing very well and they also memorize the lyric. Then it was my turn with Jennie and Tiffany. I think my group is not that good because even though we hit the right pitch but we forget some lyrics. Imez and Pandu did well also but they still read the lyrics. Michelle and Reynaldi also did an excellent job. As for me, I think next time I need to improve better by practicing more often or just maybe go to someone's house to practice longer.

-Today we have our group singing assessment. I think my group has not really prepare that well. We are still confused on what we need to sing. Then we decided to just sing "Love Story" by Taylor Swift. However, obviously we still need to practice more. Thankfully, Mr Herry said that this was only a rehearsal. The real assessment will be on the next meeting. So, we decided to change our song and we also plan to rehearse and practice everyday after school or just during our free time.

This is my other practice video. I was still practicing and singing the "firework" from katy perry. I think I made no improvement than my previous practice. I really think that I need to try harder in memorizing the lyrics because I am not that good in memorizing and that is why I have to try harder. In my next practice, which is my last practice with my group I will try my best to try to memorize.

-Today, we listen to people's individual jingle song. I think my jingle song is very bad and I think I have not give my full effort into it and I really want to improve it since the submission is still quite long I want to improve it better. I think Daniel's song is the best so far in this class. However, for next time I want to make it better.
-Then we also have the Jazz group practice, however we still could not practice because one of us went missing and doesnt bring the instrument.

This is my other practice video. Still we don't have the practice time together and I think this is not good because it is better if we practice all of us together. But personally, I am already fine and I have no problem. For later on, I just need to adjust with the other instruments.

-Today we continue on the group presentation because last time we don't get much time for the last group to present which is Nissa's group consist of Imez, Pandu and Rifky. Then we had a rehearsal of our group Jazz performances. However, Mr Herry said that even though it was just a rehearsal but it will still affect our final assessment score for this. I think my group really has the worst performance among the two other groups. This is actually because we lack practice. We did practice individually at home but that is still not good enough for us to perform well as a group. So, for next time, we really need to spend some time to practice this together.

-Today we have our group presentation about the music role and impact to the society. First to present is Daniel's group. Then it was Gregorius' group. Then it was my group's turn to present our presentation. However, one of my group member, Michelle was absent so it was only the three of us who present. I think my group did quite well and I am very satisfied with it. My Herry also said that my group is the only one that conducted surveys which can become an evidence to back up our information which is very good and I am very happy with it. However, compared to the 10DEF, I think it is still not as good as them. I think for next time we need to give all of our efforts into it.

This is my other practice video. At this time, I think i did better than the last one because by this time, I have already practice several times so it actually helps me. I make few error though at the ending but I was able to make it better. However, for next practice i should be even better because i dont want my assessment to be like this.

Wednesday, 6 April 2011 -Today is our first meeting in term 4. We discussed aboout the assessments that we will be having in this term 4. WE then discussed about the impact of music to the society and also discussed about making a jingle music which will be one of our assessment this term. We will also have a group presentation about the music to the society. I think i will be doing just fine for the presentation but hopefully this term I want to be better in the assessment than last term.

I also think that i play more fluently and however, i play it a bit too rush this time and that is why I still make a little mistake. So, for the next practice, I want to practice harder to make it even more perfect.

-Today in theory class, we write another relfection booklet but this time it is about the 12 bar blues song itself. I wrote there that I was very satisfied with my song but need some improvements on the left hand. Then we also discuss again about the chords major 7th etc but this time we have a little exercise on it which i think i found it difficult on the minor 7th one because I never learn it before.
-Then on the instrument class, we practiced the chords on the piano and I think I don't do very well because it is very hard especially on the c9 c11 because it is too long. So, for next time I will be practicing and focusing more on that.

-Today in the instrument class, we watched the 3 sample of songs that we will be performing for our next music assessment. My group will be performing the "I got rhythm" song. Then we also filled in the reflection booklet on our performances of the 12 bar blues last friday. Then Mr Herry start discussing about the major 7th and also C7 then we expand more and deeper into c9 c11 and c13. I think that I did quite well with this actually. Based from the theory, I have already understood it however, in the practical I am not really good yet. So, for next session that is what I will be focusing on which is the practical.

This is my practice video on the Jazz accompaniment of the left hand. By this time I was more focus on the right hand since the last practice I wasnt doing very well but then in this practice because I was more focus on the right hand, the left hand become a little bit messed up. So, which means that on the next practice I need to be more careful on both left hand and right hand.

I think at this time I was having problem with the right hand and I made mistakes on the right hand instead of the left hand. -Today we have our assessment today. The my instrument group which is piano start first and then followed by guitar, violin and then lastly saxophone groups.

-Guitar group:

• Ardhito: play pretty well in playing his song which is also quite good.
• Pandu: He plays very well but the melody is a bit too slow
• Rifky: He has a very good song and played quite well
• Greg: He plays very well however, the its a bit too soft.

-Violin group:

• Anthony: His song is quite simple and he doesnt play that well.
• Martinus: He plays qutie well actually

-Today in our theory class we submit our 12 bar blues. However, I only submit the soft copy one which means that I need to submit the hardcopy on the next day early in the morning before 7.40 am. After that we also have the rehearsal too in playing our 12 bar blues together with our instrument group. My partner is Adrian. When he play his melody I will play the accompaniment and when I play the melody he play the accompaniment. I think me and my partner did qutie well with this. However, we need to practice more for our next meeting which is already the assessment.
-Then in the instrument class, we practice again just like in the rehearsal.

-Today in the theory class we made our 12 bar blues. We are pretty much left behind from the other grade 10 class so that is why Mr Herry let us to do our 12 bar blues on the class in order to finish it faster. I think making the 12 bar blues is very hard or because i am not used to Jazz music. I am more to classical music. However, I am very satisfied with my 12 bar blues and I think it will sounds great. However, for next class I will be needing to start practicing my 12 bar blues on the piano.

this is my other practice video. At this time, i was trying to put the right hand melody. I tried to create it but I think I did not do very well yet because creating jazz music is very hard for me. -Today we had the second singing assessment.
I think my performance at that time was quite satisfying however, i was having a sore throat which makes my voice a little spfter thhan before however i was able to memorize the lyrics so that i am quite happy.
-Adrian: He has a loud voice however i think he has a problem with the pitch.
-Annisa: She has a very clear, loud voice and she sings very well as well. I think the overall was very good.
-Anthony: I think it is a little bit too low for him and also a little bit flat.
-Ardhito: He did quite well i think however a little bit out of tune as well i guess and he also doesnt memorize.
-Frederik:I think he did well, but his voice is a little bit small.
-Gregorius: I think he is very good however, too bad he forgot some of the parts.
-Jennie: I think she is an excellent singer and her voice also vibrate when singing which is good.
-Imez: She also sings very good, loud and clear.
-Martinus: He has a loud voice however a little mumbling.
-michelle: for me, she is a like a real singer already she has a very beautiful voice too bad she cant memorize fully.

This is my other practice video. I was still practicing singing the what a wonderful world song. However, this time I manage to sing it without looking to the script. I was able to memorize the song completely and I was very happy. I also think i had some improvements on the volume of my voice and I think that is good. So for next time, to prepare for my assessment i will keep on practicing like this.

-Today, we spend the whole session for rehearsing for our next singing assessment next week. I think at this point in time i was not well-prepared yet and i am very disappointed with myself. I was not able to memorize the lyrics yet so that is why for the rehearsal i still use the lyrics and still my voice was not loud enough and mr herry also said that the melody is too low for me. So, for next meeting i will be practicing without lyrics at home as well as work on my voice so that it would be loud and clear for my singing assessment.

-Today we only have one session of music class because we had ISA exam. We had the first singing assessment on the "I got Rhythm" song. I watched my friends performed first because Mr herry the start the assessment according alphabet but from backwards. I think i have tried my best and I was able to memorize the entire song however Mr herry said that my voice was too soft and not loud enough which is such a disappointment for me. So, for the next singing assessment i will be better than this and I will practice harder at home.

This is me practicing the simple chord progression. This time, unlike the previous practice for the left hand it is not just chord but it is scales. This make it even harder and I really struggle with this. From the video, you can see that I still try to find the correct scales and chords as I was going and i still make a lot of mistakes. I really need to practice harder on this one for next time.

-Today, in the theory class we submitted our homework which is an essay about what is improvisation in jazz. Then, mr herry also showed us a video about peole who plays the Jazz. We also sang the "I got Rhythm" to practice and prepare for our singing assessment next week. i think i did quite well but for next class i will try to memorize so that i can get a good score in the singing assessment. Then, mr herry also taught us on how to compose 12 baes blues which is I think it is much harder than composing a 16 bars usual composition. Then, while in the instrument class, we practiced the simple chord progression. I tried to play it but not in front of mr Herry and I think that I am really bad at it because it is very hard with all the flat keys. I really need to practice this more at home for next time before Mr herry checks it.

-Today in our theory class, we were divided into three groups which consists of 5-6 members. Then we were told to discussed about our respective topic. My group topic is about improvisation in Jazz music. After we discussed, we present our discussion to in front of the class. I think my group did pretty well with this topic because actually it is quite simple compared it to other groups topic. After that we get to see Nissa, Daniel, anthonny, and dito played the jazz modes with their respective instruments. For next time, i will make an essat of 200-400 words out of it.
-while in our instrument class we learned about the simple chord progression which is very hard to play for me and that is why i will be needing to practice it alot at home.

This is my second practice video in this semester 2. I was practicing at home still on the reverse mode for the jazz mode. This time i feel very satisfied and happy because i can do it way better than before and it is becoming more fluent. I just made some few mistakes when i was going down. So for next time i still need to work more on that part.

-Today we were given a worksheet about the Jazz evolution and we need to highlight the important things in it with out partner. My partner was Adrian. Then we were asked some questions related to the one that we just read about per group. I think me and my partner did quite well but i think other groups did better than us though. After that we were also asked to play the jazz modes again with out respective instruments in front of the class and I think I did well but not good on the one going down. Then in our instrument class, we practice the reverse mode for the Jazz mode and it was really hard. For next time, I really need to work on this one.

-Today we had a short quiz about the Jazz music history that we have learned from the last meeting and which i had done the homework. I think i did not do very well in this quiz because I was not prepared yet for the quiz and next time, if i had quiz again i will study harder for it to get a better result than this. Then we also learned about Jazz modes which is quite simple actually in theory but it is hard in the practical. I was told to play by Mr Herry and i don't think i did quite well especially when it is qoing down. I did pretty well when i was going up. So, I need to practice this more at home for next session.

-Today in our theory class we learned the history of Jazz music because the topic for our music class this term is Jazz Music. Mr Herry gave out us handouts to study more about the Jazz history. We also get to discussed a few about the handout. I think Jazz will be quite hard for me because I usually study about classical or pop music instead of Jazz. Then we also learn about the scales and chords in Jazz music which is very hard for me to understand. So, for next class I need to finish the homework related to Jazz.
-While, in the instrument class, we practiced the scales and chords and it is hard for me as well because the interval are so wide and I can't really reach it. I think i will need to practice more on the chords.

Semester 2, Term 3
